If you are talking about a CEO then you are mistaken. The board of directors is above the CEO. While CEOs have leeway the board of directors are their boss. However this for publicly traded companies. Private companies can have different structures. The thought that a CEO is in charge of everything is a misnomer really. Mostly due to years of media showing them in this light. Don't get me wrong that usually has a lot of power, but they can get fired like any other employee. In fact there are other "C" titles. They are the highest executive in their section. They work with the CEO to reach goals outlined by the board of directors. If you are really in a corporate environment then you know how scary it is for the board to be asking questions about you. I'd rather talk to the CEO than have the board interested. True could be good, but usually you already know when that is happening. Getting back to the point. Anyone who talks about the CEO like the one in charge over the board isn't speaking from experience. They probably don't know what comes after the board. lol
